You know how a lot of women get discouraged when they experience a weight loss plateau?
They're putting in the time and effort and think they're doing all the right things. But the scale stops moving and they get frustrated.
As a personal trainer and nutrition coach, I help women in their 40s and up break through their weight loss plateau by ditching hours of cardio and starvation diets.
Women like Loretta.
When Loretta started training with Max Velocity Fitness in July, she'd already lost 26 pounds ... but had gotten stuck.
You may have fallen into the same trap as Loretta. She was doubling and tripling down on "cardio," but at a certain point, it stopped working.
She was putting in hours and hours on the treadmill and "eating healthy," but was really frustrated that the scale had stopped moving.
And it was especially disappointing since she and a friend were planning a joint party for a milestone birthday that's coming up in March.
"I really wanted the dress shopping experience to be pleasant!" she said.
Well, since then, Loretta has dropped another 14 pounds! Plus, she's stronger, has more energy and no longer gets winded going up the stairs at work.
Oh, and that birthday dress is gonna look hot ...
You see, a weight loss plateau like the one Loretta experienced is very common. So if you've experienced one -- or you're experiencing one now -- you're not alone.
And it's not your fault.
Here are the three most common causes of a weight-loss plateau:
Too much cardio. Walking and walking and walking some more -- on the treadmill or outside -- is good for your physical, cardiovascular and emotional health. But it's not going to tip the scales in your favor when you're trying to lose weight.
Not enough food. Yes, it's true ... most women eat less and less when the scale stops moving. That only slows down the metabolism even more, and makes it easier for a weight loss plateau to happen.
Too much stress, not enough sleep. Lack of sleep and poor stress management are two of the biggest causes of a weight loss plateau. Aim for at least seven hours of sleep a night, and adopt some stress-relieving activities into your routine ... such as breathing, meditation, stretching, yoga and walking outdoors in nature.
